To create my final designs, I began by researching the meaning behind the song I had chosen. “All Hands Bury The Dead” by Wilson Tanner, revolves around a burial at seawhich is what prompted my concept brainstorming. A floating wreath on water was becoming the most solid idea and I then needed to figure out the best way to use type to form the image. Creating my own typeface seemed to be the easiest way to create the aesthetic I wanted for the album cover.
Having decided on the wreath shape, I wanted to create a texture for the type to help it appear as though it was floating on water. I turned to digital techniques to help my design and used brushes on the app Procreate to help create the texture I was aiming for. Deciding to have the wreath non-complete was a design decision I concluded after receiving feedback from my peers about making the design for the album more visually dynamic.
Overall, I’ve created a moody and dynamic design that visually represents to idea that begins the original song. The design is made up of components that can be easily applied to different applications to create a cohesive design with a solid identity,
